“Cut! That take was perfect. Let’s do it one more time!”
That sounds echoes across a valley in the hills of Tennessee as the director takes a look at the script, looks at his crew and our actor, dabs the sweat off his brow and sets up to film again.
There are no makeup touchups, craft services, grips, trailers, or even chairs! But here we are. With a crew of 5, we have been up since 5 AM. We have hiked through the mud in 20-degree weather to arrive at our set. And here we are—Explore the Bible is On Location.
From copper mines to Atlantic coast beaches, we will go anywhere in the vast unknown to explore. With our hosts Joel and Terra, we have braved bee hives, equestrian centers, Go-Kart speedsters, and even my own dog Bella, to provide a connecting lesson in the Explore the Bible On Location videos.
When we ideate about the videos for each quarter, we want to provide a few essential elements; directly applicable to the object, Text Truth, and/or Bible story, a sense of discovery, a fun them, and a pretty cool location.
As our ideas manifest on the day of shooting (there is usually one day for every episode), creativity flies as the director, actor, editor, producer, and sound director, make ideas a reality and make words come to life.
The days are long, exhausting, often very hot or very cold, but let’s face it… where else can you learn to be a ninja? On Location!
