Explore the Bible Starts Now

The day has finally arrived! It is your first week to teach Explore the Bible Kids. Are you excited? Nervous? Not sure what to expect? Here are some tips to help you start this new journey.

1. Pray!
2. Read the Bible story from the Bible to prepare your heart for teaching.
3. Read your Leader Guide and plan what activities you want to lead.
4. Email or call your other leaders and helpers. Communicate if you need them to lead anything specific in the session (i.e., small group game, video discussion, or read Scripture aloud).
5. Examine the Explorer Guide. Read the activities and info-graphics.
6. Sort your Poster Pack items and Bible Book Posters.
7. Watch the Explore the Bible: On Location video. Create any additional questions you may want to ask the kids.
8. Ask for an allergy list. Many teachers like to start the new year with special snacks and treats. Check with your kids ministry to find out if you have any kids on your new role that are allergic to wheat, eggs, grapes, citrus, and so on.
9. Prepare a name game or name tags for your new group of kids. Knowing a kid’s name is important. The sooner you learn them, the better. Now my sister and I joke about all the times we weren’t called the right names as kids. We joke now. We didn’t as kids. It hurt. It was sad. It’s a little detail, but calling kids by the right name tells them you really care about them.
