The Explore the Bible® Kids team is so excited to present the Explorer Guide for Younger and Older Kids age groups. This quarterly resource is a colorful magazine with 2-page spreads for each session full of photographs, infographics, activities, and thought-provoking questions. Each session will feature an object of the week, giving a visual image to engage the kids as they connect to the text. Also included are pictures of artifacts, maps, and replicas of historical items that relate to the core and connection passages. Kids will love the infographics and activities that help them dig deeper into Scripture. Teachers will enjoy how easy it is to implement the Explorer Guide as a visual guide into an in-depth understanding of the biblical truths.
Featured above is a snapshot of the Younger Kids Winter 2014 (top) and Older Kids Winter 2014 (bottom) Explorer Guides. You can see how kids of all ages would be excited to dig deeper into the books of Esther, Ezra, and Nehemiah with such an engaging tool like the Explorer Guide. Younger Kids will learn about Esther and see artifacts of ancient beauty treatments she may have used, while also being able to see a snapshot of Persian ruins and a “Queenly Comparison” to the Queen Vashti sculpture. These visuals will help the teacher connect back to the text truth of how “A Deliver Was Needed.”
Older Kids will learn about Ezra the scribe and will see pictures of ancient artifacts that scribes used. They’ll also see the cylinder used to record the decree from King Cyrus that allowed God’s people to return to their homeland and rebuild the temple. These pieces of history will combine to help kids understand that “True Joy Comes From Obeying and Worshiping God.”
The heart behind the Explorer Guide is to help kids understand that God’s Word is not just another story, but it is a true, historical, and living document. Explore the Bible® Kids at its very core seeks to connect young learners to the Bible through rich and relevant resources. Information does not lead to transformation, only the Word of God can transform. Our prayer is that the Word will dwell deeply in the hearts of children.
