Goals. Resolutions. One word. A new year is here! January is an excellent time to encourage your group members to prioritize daily time in God’s Word. Starting a new task, or picking one up after too long away, can be a challenge. Here are three ways to point your group members to God’s Word.
Read the Focus Passage
Challenge your group members to read the focal passage of each session prior to your group time. This will ensure that they have already read the passage before you even begin the Bible study discussion. Already have group members who do this? Ask them when and how they fit this practice into their weekly schedule. Allow them to share why they make this a priority.
Follow the Daily Bible Reading Plan
Encourage group members to spend time in God’s Word consistently. A daily Bible reading plan is included in each Personal Study Guide and Daily Discipleship Guide. This plan takes us through every verse of the Bible book we’re studying that quarter.
Learn the Memory Verse
Committing God’s Word to memory is one of the single best ways to prepare our hearts for whatever comes our way! Each week, we’ve identified a memory verse for that week’s session. Highlight these verses so that your group members know where to find them in their Explore the Bible resource. (In the Personal Study Guide, the memory verses are located in the “Apply the Text” section of each session; in the Daily Discipleship Guide they are found on page 7.)
God’s Word is our source of wisdom, strength, comfort, and guidance. Don’t miss this opportunity to encourage your group to make it a priority!
