Malachi 1:1-5,11, Session 12, Promise Keeper

May 11, 2015 by Jennifer Siao

Begin your preparation time with prayer and by reading Malachi 1:1-14 for more context. Then, read and consider this sermon by Rick Ezell. Consider the following questions:

  • What did you learn about Malachi? About the structure of this book?
  • How is the Book of Malachi different from other prophetic books?
  • Start by evaluating your heart and your motives or reasons for worship. Pray that your heart would be reverent and honorable before God. Talk to your students about this and explain to them that their concept of God affects their attitude about worship.
  • In verse 9, we see the result. This verse is not specifically covered in the Leader Guide, so feel free to expound more on Ezell’s sermon/article on Malachi 1 with your students. Ask how their lives have been changed as a result of worship. Explain that worship is not just a position or action, but it is a lifestyle.
