Four Ways to Prepare for Fall Groups

July 28, 2023 by Amber Vaden Leave a Comment

Fall is just around the corner! For many churches, Bible study groups get a kick-start each Fall with extra promotion. It’s an exciting time of new guests, additional Bible study groups, new group leaders, and the anticipation of what God will do.

Here are four ways to prepare for the new quarter:

  • Make a game plan for your Bible study.

Nail down the important details as early as possible. Where and when will your group meet? Has the curriculum been ordered? Do you need to secure any supplies like pens, paper, tear sheets, etc.? Identify these details as early as possible.

  • Make a game plan for your preparation.

To fully invest in your Bible study group, you’ll need time to prepare. Find a time and place that you can commit to each week and identify any obstacles that might arise. A set time each week to study the passage and Leader Guide is a valuable investment. Do all you can to guard this time from distractions.

  • Contact your group members.

Get in touch with everyone on your list if you have one. A brief welcome note sharing the time, location, and topic of study is all you need. If your church already has the Explore the Bible Personal Study Guides or Daily Discipleship Guides available, consider delivering these with your note so that group members will have this before your first group meeting.

  • Spend some time in prayer.

Before the busyness of a new quarter sets in, devote some time to prayer. Ask God for guidance and wisdom you’ll need to lead a study of His Word. Pray for the group members on your list and others God may lead to your group. Pray for all that God will do in and through your group.
