While traveling this summer, my wife and I noticed that we tended to get gas and snacks on the right side of the highway. We made stops based on what was on OUR side of the interstate. There were bridges that would take us to the other side of the highway with ease, but we found a way to avoid them if we could. We also noticed that some businesses had locations on both sides of the highway at the same exit. Some of these were identical in every way. These companies understand that two locations are better than one, especially if they sit on an interstate.
We can learn from these businesses when it comes to our Sunday School classes and other Bible study groups. The more we have, the more likely we are to meet more needs in our community. Starting new groups (adding to the ones we already have) is one way of reaching new people for Bible study. With many of us relaunching our Sunday Schools onsite in September, we have the opportunity to start some new groups in addition to those we already have.
New classes and groups mean we will have new teachers and leaders. Once we recruit them, we will want to help them get started well. One way of doing that is providing the Explore the Bible Adult Group Box. All we need to do is order that one item for the new class. The box includes 10 copies of the Personal Study Guide which will be adequate for most new groups. Additional copies of the Personal Study Guide can be ordered if more than 10 copies are needed.
The new teacher will find a Leader Guide and a copy of QuickSource. The Leader Guide will give them Bible commentary that goes deeper than what is found in the Personal Study Guide, and also group plans that will help them use the Personal Study Guide to lead the group time. QuickSoure includes additional discussion questions, an object lesson idea, and a dig deeper feature for each lesson, giving the new teacher more options to consider.
When a person first opens the group box, they will find a Quick Start Guide that outlines simple steps for the teacher to prepare using all the resources in the box. They are also pointed to free helps available online and when to consult them in the preparation process. Be sure to walk the new teacher through the steps found on the Quick Start Guide, sharing tips along the way.
All these items are grouped together not only to get the new leader off to a great start, but to also instill some confidence as they step into the teacher role for the first time.
