I still have my first Bible. It’s a tiny pink KJV New Testament (with Psalms and Proverbs) that fit neatly in the litle purse that I would take to church. I don’t remember having this Bible but my mom tells me stories and it still sits in the “Baby Erika” box at her house. What I do remember is not my first Bible, but my second. It was BIG and FULL of words. But I knew tht this one was complete. Its pages are worn from childhood and the leather is receeding but these scars are he reflection of years of Bible Drill, VBS, Sunday School and many other things. It’s been covered in Borax, play dough, and glue. But it’s my childhood Bible. And it was mine—specific to me.
As we crafted Explore the Bible, we sought to provide a copy of God’s Word that could be unique and complementary to each kid’s experience with the Word. Our team thought it only fitting that we provide a copy of the Word, designed to be used alongside a book-by-book curriculum.
So, we want to provide churches with an opportuniy to order Kids Explorer Bibles. This full text (KJV or HCSB) Bible includes 30 days of devotions and activities designed to reinforce Bible Skills. Shaded Bible verses and margin notes guide kids through the gospel plan of salvation and it includes articles related to the gospel plan. Also contains an overview chart of the genres of Scripture for both the Old and New Testaments.
We hope that the Kids Explorer Bible provides an option to help kids and their family dwell in the Word as they, well, explore the Bible.
…. And if it gets a little glue or play dough on it, that’s probably OK too!
