Nehemiah 5:1-12, Session 13: Seeking Justice

February 25, 2015 by Jennifer Siao

As you wrap up your study of Esther, Ezra, and Nehemiah, take some time to review and give your students time to reflect on all that they have learned during this study. Nehemiah asks the Jews to take a stand against injustice. The central truth for this session is: God’s people must stand against injustice. Read this blog post by Ligonier Ministries and then answer the following questions based on Nehemiah 5 and the blog post:

  • Are money or material things an issue in your life or something that you are trying to amass and not willing to give to God? Ask God to search your heart.
  • Exploitation was another issue that Nehemiah condemned the people for. How can you and your students take a stand against injustice in your own church, schools, and community?
  • Examine your heart and life to see if you are being obedient to God’s Word and His commands. We will be faced with trials and temptations, but we need to be faithful to His Word and follow Him completely even in the midst of difficulty.
