Malachi 3:16–4:2, Session 14, The Purifier

May 25, 2015 by Jennifer Siao

As you conclude your study of the Minor Prophets this session, take some time to review what you’ve already studied and learned this quarter. Also, designate some time at the end of the session to answer any questions students may still have. Then, read this post by John Piper, which focuses on Malachi 4:1-3.

  • Remind your students that they have a choice and a decision to make. We will be consumed as prophesied in Malachi 4:1, or if we fear God’s name, we are given the promises in verse 2. Guide students to think about and compare these images. If any student is unsure of their salvation, give them the opportunity to make this decision today.
  • If you have time during your session remaining, consider having students draw or write about the five pictures listed in Malachi 4:2. These are also detailed more in the post by John Piper.
  • Foll0w-up the previous activity with discussion on the meaning behind the images that are included in the post by Piper. Jesus comes to give light, truth, healing, freedom, and He will set everything right.

We hope your students are continuing to grow in their faith and are learning and applying these truths from Scripture to their lives. We are praying for you and your students! Please let us know if there is any way we can help in this process.
