Luke 2:8-20, Session 3: The Deliverer

December 18, 2014 by Jennifer Siao

Read this post by John MacArthur entitled God in a Manger. The central truth for this session is God provided our Deliverer through Jesus Christ.

  • During the midst of the busyness of Christmas, take time to read Luke 2 and dwell on this Scripture passage. This session will focus specifically on verses 8-20.
  • Your students will probably have questions about what Jesus might have been like as a baby. We know that Jesus was fully God yet fully man, so we can assume that He cried and would need the same care as any baby would at that age. Explain that this is difficult for our minds to comprehend, but we know that Jesus came to earth as an infant yet He did not forsake His deity.
  • Is your view of Christ accurate to what God’s Word says? Examine your heart this Christmas season and ask God to show you even more of His character and nature. Pray that He will help you to view Him not only as a babe in a manger, but as the Lord of lords and King of kings.

Our Explore the Bible: Student team wishes you a Merry Christmas! Our prayer is that your students will come to know Jesus as King in their own lives and that they will continue to grow as they walk with Him.
