This quarter, you’ll be studying the Books of Esther, Ezra, and Nehemiah. As we begin in the Book of Esther, the central truth for this session is Pride and anger, when left unchecked, can destroy ourselves and others. Read this blog post by Jon Bloom on pride and then spend some time reflecting and answering the following questions.
- How has pride hijacked comparison in your life? Think about and share some of your struggles with your students if you have time during the session.
- As the blog post says, name what you crave and repent of any desire of self-glory. Encourage students to list what they crave as well.
- Read and fill your mind with the promises God gives us in His Word — the Bible. Write a promise of God from Scripture on a note card and display it somewhere where you will see it regularly.
