One of the feature favorites of the new Explore the Bible: Young Adults is the daily Bible Reading Plan found within the first few pages of each Personal Study Guide. As we study the Bible book-by-book within the 13-week quarterly model, it’s nearly impossible to cover each book of the Bible verse-by-verse. That’s where the Bible Reading Plan comes in. With this daily plan, young adults can dive deeper into each passage of Scripture during the week. Even more, as individuals read God’s Word daily, the weekly group gathering time will be more abundant and captivating.
Here are three ideas for dwelling in the Word daily with the Bible Reading Plan:
1. Morning Devotional or Quiet Time Reading–If you prefer to have your daily time with God in the morning, consider using the Bible Reading Plan as your Scripture reading for your morning devotional or quiet time. Most of the passages are brief, so it lends well for Bible reading to accompany your time in prayer and personal worship.
2. Midday Lunchtime Reading–For those who like to unplug and sharpen your mind during your lunch hour, the Bible Reading Plan works beautifully as a way to dive deeper into God’s Word and prepare yourself further for your weekly group gathering. As others notice you reading the Bible at your desk, on campus, or in the office break room, it might even open the doors of opportunity to share with a classmate or coworker what God is teaching you through His Word.
3. Nightly Reading–While many people are preparing for bedtime by TV channel surfing or scrolling through social media feeds, consider unwinding from your day by using the Bible Reading Plan to dig deeper into Scripture. If you’re married or have kids, you might even take advantage of diving into Scripture as a couple or family. Imagine the possibilities for spiritual growth together through reading, meditating, and discussing God’s Word and what He wants to teach you through it!
Above all, don’t let the Bible Reading Plan be just some overlooked pages within your Personal Study Guide. Dwell richly in God’s Word through personal Bible reading.
