ADULT EXTRA – ROMANS (SPRING 2020) – SESSION 7

April 8, 2020 by Dwayne McCrary

Session 7: Raised

Suggested Week of Use: April 12, 2020

Core Passage: Luke 24:1-12

News Story Summary

In response to COVID-19 guidelines for sheltering at home, virtual tours of US National Parks are being promoted by different websites. Google, the National Park Service, and others have encouraged people to utilize their virtual tours as people shelter in place. The experience can be different with each site even for the same park, some giving facts about the area and others giving 360 degree views along the paths within a park. Some parents are using these sites to support some of the lessons their children are receiving from their local schools. The virtual tours serve as a way of seeing various US Parks even though people are confined.

Focus Attention

To adapt the Share idea under Focus Attention, share the news story about the virtual tours of US National Parks. Ask: What is the value of providing virtual tours while many are sheltering in place? How do these types of tours cause feelings of awe and wonder? Allow the group to suggest names of US National Parks they have visited, hope to visit, or will explore virtually in the present. Complete the step, using the comments included under Transition in the group plans.

Summarize and Challenge

To supplement the Challenge idea under Summarize and Challenge, remind the group of the news story about the virtual tours. Explain that many of the scenes and images from the US National Parks move us to some type of response. Say: Jesus’ death and resurrection demands a response. Complete the step as written.
